Warming up is essential for preparing the body and mind. We work on flexibility and stretching the whole body. The more limber you are, the more capable you are of capoeira’s delicate acrobatics.

Our routine is far from ordinary. The repetion of 10 basic moves give each capoeirista a solid base from which to build their game.
During this part of class, we work with partners to combine the base elements of capoeira. Each of the 5 sequences is comprised of an attack and an escape. Working one-on-one is the best way to prepare for a roda.

A Roda is not complete without music. Capoeiristas must know how to play instruments and sing traditional songs to participate fully in the experience. We learn to play the berimbau, pandeiro, atabaque, agogo bell, and reco-reco.
Every class completes with a Roda. Each student uses what they have learned to play the game. The Roda involves every capoeirista in the room, whether they are singing or playing the game.
